Hello Mia, thanks for honoring our invitation to feature as a guest on FamilyRubies.
Thank you FamilyRubies

I am originally from Hawaii, USA and I currently live in Houston, Texas.

What is your belief, faith or religion?
Like Unicorns and Pegasus? Dog Spitting out rainbows? I’m just playing…I believe in Jesus.
What school do you currently attend and what grade?
I attend “School for the blind” and I am in third grade.
Tell us about yourself and what you currently do.
I was born not able to see good, I am almost blind. I can only see out of one eye and it’s usually blurry and clear at the same time. I know it sounds weird. I also think I am very smart. I’m really spunky and I look it too. When I am at home, I like to play with my two dogs and two guinea pigs. I like to do chores, design, sing, use my imagination, climb trees, play with my besties and eat. I am multi talented.

Wow, great! Tell us about your designing skills, and how much you currently do with it.
I just draw what I see in my mind. When I am on Photoshop I use something called a clipping mask. My mom helps me set that up then I draw away. I think I have a big imagination. I make clothes and I am coming out with accessories soon. I also have a YouTube Channel where I show off my skills!
What inspired your passion for designing clothes?
I would say my imagination and God made that imagination pop into my head.
Tell us about a memorable day since you started this cloth designing business?
The very first day my clothes samples came in and I got to try them on.

Sometime ago when Mia’s first designed Tee came in
In what way have your parents supported your passion?
My mom does it all for me. She helps take my stuff to the post office. Sometimes I have a hard time seeing on Photoshop and she starts or finishes something for me when it gets blurry. My mum is like my little helper. Maybe my big helper ’cause she’s bigger than me.

Busy Mia
How do you combine clothes designing with school and school work?
Its hard doing it all. I don’t do as much of my Photoshop drawings right now. I am selling more now than designing. But Christmas break is coming up and my mommy and I are going to be doing stuff for spring and summer and make some YouTube videos! I am learning Braille so I have to spend most of my time doing that. My mom helps me out a lot, when I can’t do my business, she takes care of it for me. She works too and she helps me. I have a lot of new things to share with my YouTube and Instagram tribe soon.
What major challenges are you currently facing as a business owner?
I would say it’s trying to break into the world for people to see I can still do things and be good at it even though I am almost blind.
Mia, describe yourself in one word.
Wise

Where do you see yourself taking this business in the next 5 years?
Maybe to the mall? Next to the Disney store.
Mia, do you have a word of advice to inspire young girls like you who are out there and who have big dreams like yours?
I’ll say this to them – Don’t give up, you can do this. Don’t say bad words to yourself. When you make mistakes those mistakes are good. To me, those mistakes are ART!
Closing remark…
Thank you FamilyRubies for noticing me. Though I am little, I am fierce!
